A lucky person matched all six numbers drawn on Friday 13th to win the $1.3 billion Mega Millions winning jackpot.

They opted for the lump-sum payment as opposed to being paid in instalments. That meant the headline figure was reduced to $1.1 billion and was settled in full during the year.

Let’s hope they didn’t spend it all at once, as the winner has to pay tax on this enormous prize, and will recieve an after-tax payout of around $637 million.
